Patriotic TV Characters

It is officially the 4th of July, the day we celebrate being an American by joining the Europeans in putting the date before the month. Instead of fireworks and flags, I've decided to offer up some of my favorite patriotic TV characters:

1. Homer Simpson: In his constant quest for TV, beer and sleep, Homer proves he's in touch with the American public. And who can forget one his presidential campaign slogans in 2004: "No big government, just big waist sizes."

2. Alex P. Keaton: The right-wing 80s teen from Family Ties makes this list for voicing a dissenting opinion in a family full of liberals. And who can forget his shrine to Richard Nixon?

3. Jon Stewart: The host of The Daily Show has made politics hot again by skewering less than capable policy-makers. With his dry wit and willingness to ask the tough questions, he's made TV "news" bearable.

Now it's your turn. What TV characters make you "proud to be an American"?

Comments:
the mayor on spin city makes me proud to be an american. if leaders can't be apathetic and distant, what can they be!!!!
